Guest Lexxstar Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 What will happen if I untick an item in Win.INI in the System Cinfiguration Utility? I ask this because when I was checking it tonight I noticed a program that I had installed then uninstalled later as it was causing conflicts, still had a tick next to it. I didn't expect to find it here i.e. WIN.INI I have unticked it, and got the message that "changes will not take place till I restart the computer". I am on unfamiliar ground here and wonder what will happen (if anything) when I switch off, then start up again, also why was the program there if I had deleted it via the Add/Remove Programs. The program was LogicHitKit from eMagic. all help and advice appreciated. -- Lexxstar
Guest glee Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Re: Unticking an item in WIN.INI I suspect in this particular situation it won't have any negative effects if you already uninstalled the program, but it might be best to copy/paste the line you want to disable into a reply here so we can see what it is referring to. Include under which section heading the item is found in the file, and paste the entire line in question. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP Shell/User, A+ http://dts-l.org/ http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "Lexxstar" <Lexxstar@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:2D819FE6-D6B5-4602-B70E-D99AB81BAD2D@microsoft.com... > What will happen if I untick an item in Win.INI in the System Cinfiguration > Utility? > I ask this because when I was checking it tonight I noticed a program that I > had installed then uninstalled later as it was causing conflicts, still had a > tick next to it.
