Re: Unwanted Entry

First thing I would do is stay away from any registry editing for now and go

read up on it before you damage your operating system.

HKCU stands for hkey_current_user

Hi Man,

This can be from your Printer, did you installed a printer recently or added

features to it?.

You can use the AutoRuns.exe from Microsoft to see this Key:

AutoRuns for Windows v8.73

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/utilities/Autoruns.mspx

the key is:

[-] HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows

Clarification: If you click start--run--type in regedit---click OK, you

cannot see HKCU??????

Regedit retains the last used key point. It's possible the default view

when Regedit opens may be at a indented point so you do not see

the HKey_Current_User category.

Would need to collapse the open indentions by pressing the Left

Arrow Key to collapse the view enough to see the main hives.

In my opinion, as long as you know what is dangerous and what is not, it is OK.

Have you ran a malware or spyware check?

RE: Unwanted Entry

Hi,

Either try to remove the entry from the start Up menu by going to the

windows Explorer and locate this path:

C:\Documents and Settings\<User>\Start Menu\Programs\Start Up = look in the

right pane/window for the entry and Delete it.

Or in the Registry Key:

[-] HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run = Look

in the right pane/window and remove the entry.

If you want to remove the check box/Tick click on it once to deactivate it.

Uninstall the Printer driver, then run Disk Clean up on your Disk and go to

the Printer manufacturer website to download the latest Driver for it (same

Specs) and reinstall it, pay attention on the option to install, you can

elect to Custom install rather than Typical install.

Make sure the system clean from malware and your Profiles/Account is not

damaged or corrupted.

How to copy data from a corrupted user profile to a new profile

Open a run command and type in:

eventvwr.msc click [OK] you will get the Event viewer control Panel.

click on each of these:

Application

System

Security

Look in the right Pane/window for error message with red (X) or Yellow

exclamation mark /!\ , double click each one to get more info about the

causer.

On the Event error properties message you will see:

Up Arrow

Down arrow

Two pages

Click on the two pages to copy the error message then bring up the Notepad

you opened earlier and right click on the first line and select Paste from

the list, this will paste the error message on a Notepad.

Please don't duplicate the error message one of each kind will be sufficient.
