Guest BW Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 I have an IBM Thinkpad z61m. Everytime I boot the machine it tells me that it is installing the UltraNav pointing device and that it hasn't passed Microsoft certification. It asks if it should continue anyway or stop the installation. My question is, why does it have to install it on each boot? I have downloaded and installed the latest drivers for that device. What is wrong and how do I fix this? Thanks for your help. Bruce
Guest Bob I Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Re: Have to install pointing device on each boot The usual reason this occurs is that the manufacturers install sequence was not followed and the operating system "rediscovers" the hardware each time it starts up because of "missing" registry entries. Since this hardware came as part of the computer, the drivers should have been part of the factory install image. Did you replace the operating system on this laptop? I would likely try doing a "uninstall" of the hardware, then install the new drivers and reboot. BW wrote: > I have an IBM Thinkpad z61m.
