If not, you take the drive to a recovery service. These are usually not inexpensive. You should receive an estimate of what can be done and how much it will cost; estimates are not always free. Just last week, I was unfortunate enough to lose my primary HD in the system as well as external backup drive in a single day. I guess that's what weather change does to you. I was fortunate enough to have a 2nd external drive with all files backed up.
