Guest Jen Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 I got this weird message when I booted up on a black screen. It said to press F1 tp continue. The thing is this is a desktop, not a laptop. Any ideas?

Desktops *do* have batteries to keep the data that the BIOS stores in CMOS memory. Shut down, unplug, open the case, look for the nickel or quarter sized battery. Read off the type, then go get another. Remove the old one, put the new one in, close the case and restart teh computer. You may well have to go through the BIOS to let it reset the items it's forgotten, one of which will be the current date/time. HTH -pk
