hello I have windows xp service pack 2.

I have a sound blaster audigy soundcard (not SE or 2)

along with 2 boston acoustics speakers and a subwoofer.

what I am trying to do is get a generic white microphone from an old

computer to work on this one. It has worked before, but I have replaced the

motherboard since. Anyway on the right speaker there is a port for mic as

well as headset, yet the comp doesnt recognize the mic when i plug it in. I

have everything unmuted and my soundcard drivers updated to the best of my

knowledge. I do have a logitech webcam that has a mic as well, that works but

I prefer not using that one for various reasons. so i disabled that mic in

device manager. I try to select the new mic in control panel>Sounds>Voice

tab, but when i select SB Audigy Audio [bC00] for voice playback and

recording and then select test hardware it doesnt recognize my mic....

i appreciate any help, as ive had this working before but not sure what is

wrong..

Well.. you mentioned your SPEAKER having a port for a mic and headset... but

said nothing about having anything plugged into the mic or input ports of

the actual sound card itself - where there would have to be something

plugged in from the speakers for the ports on them to function correctly....
