Guest Chingadero Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 I am using an XP Pro workstation to backup a network shared folder. It works fine if I initiate the backup manually and it also works unattended if I remain logged on with the workstation locked. I set my password in the Backup Utility Scheduler area but it keeps re-requesting my password every time. I suspect that the problem is related to a policy on our server but I don't know what that policy could be and our local techs have no clue. The biggest problem is that our PC techs do not know much about the server software and the server team does not answer service calls for desktop systems, (typical government nonsense!) They tried to tell me that XP backup does not work on network shares and we all know that is BS.

I suspect you're trying to back up data that resides on a drive letter mapped to a network share. Don't - these drive letters disappear as soon as you log off. Use UNC coding instead.
