Guest RyanH Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 Out downstairs computer came bundled with several InterVideo products (DVD Player and Creator) and I was hoping to transfer them to my computer upstairs I copied the program files and installed them into the program files folder on my upstairs computer but for some reason they were missing certain files.

Yes. - they are not licensed for the 'computer upstairs'... - you need the installation media - you cannot usually just *copy* a directory and get it to work. Purchase said products and get the associated license and media needed to run them on the 'computer upstairs' and install them appropriately. -- Shenan Stanley MS-MVP -- How To Ask Questions The Smart Way http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html

Two points: 1) What you're attempting to do is very likely a violation of the software's license. This is otherwise known as piracy and/or theft. 2) You need to install the software using the original installation medium. It can't just be copied. If it's a standard WinXP-compatible application, there'll be dozens of hidden systems files and an untold number of registry entries that would also have to be transferred. -- Bruce Chambers Help us help you: http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. ~Benjamin Franklin Many people would rather die than think; in fact, most do. ~Bertrand Russell The philosopher has never killed any priests, whereas the priest has killed a great many philosophers. ~ Denis Diderot
