Guest Sonny Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 Hi, This xpcom seems to prevent my computer from shutting down because it is not responding. Don't know what it is but Wikipedia says it is Cross Platform Component Object Model from Mozilla. I did go to the Mozilla XPCOM site and its making me spin with tech stuff. Anyone here can explain what's happening (in layman terms) and how to work around. Thanks Sonny

Shutdown issues are generally caused by a program and/or process that is refusing to exit gracefully. The program and/or process can be from malware or can be legitimate. The first step is always to make sure your computer is virus/malware free. http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware If the computer is clean, then go through this shutdown troubleshooter: http://www.aumha.org/win5/a/shtdwnxp.htm If troubleshooting the issue is too difficult - and there is absolutely no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a computer repair shop. This will not be your local BigComputerStore/GeekSquad type of place. Get recommendations from family, friends, colleagues.
