Can't change wallpaper

A friends computer......XP Home SP2.

His wallpaper is plain black.(not by choice). In Display Properties,

highlighting a wallpaper does not work and the arrow keys to move the

wallpaper list of choices up and down does not work.

Everything else in Display Properties works.

This may be related to installing IE7.

He also was getting an error on startup.....The procedure entry point

GetProcessImageFileNameW could not be found in PSAPI.DLL. (Not exactly word

for word but close).

After searching the internet I renamed all the PSAPI.DLL fills (except those

in system32). The error message no longer shows on startup. I mention this

incase it's related to the wallpaper problem.

Any suggestions on the wallpaper thing?

Oh, after installing IE7, he went to broadband so (for me) I'm reluctant to

use system restore. I don't know anything about setting a computer up with

broadband.

Re: Can't change wallpaper

Hi Kelly,

I was in a hurry this AM when I posted and I didn't mention that I checked

the

HKey_Current_User,software,Microsoft,windows,currentversion,policies,explorer.........noactivedesktopchanges

is set to (0) 'allow' changes.

Does your fix on line 142 just make this change or does it do more?
