Guest TallTom Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 I reinstalled Windows XP Home Edition today along with Service Pack 2. It picked the default graphics card fine (NVidia GEForce 2 MX400) correctly. But then I found a Hardware Update through the Windows Update center online. I downloaded and installed it. I completely messed up the graphics. I was able to "roll back" the graphics card driver and everything was reset EXCEPT the Taskbar icons on the bottom of the display. They are now fuzzy. I have tried deleting the driver (NVidia) and reinstalling. I've tried changing the DPI setting between 96 and 120. Neither have worked to restore these icons to their normal clear (higher res) appearance before the graphics driver mixup. Any suggestions? Thanks, Tom

Let this be a lesson - don't install any hardware updates from WU. They are often the last "MS certified" driver, which is probably older than the one you already have, and sometimes even for a different or older version of the hardware.

Guest Matt320 Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Re: Fuzzy Icons in Taskbar Hi, the problem is if you install a new graphics card sometimes they alter all the size settings of the windows and desktops. To change these right click on the desktop then click properties and click appearance and then advanced... change the size of things a bit smaller and then apply and ok them.. hope this works. matt320 "a" wrote: > =?Utf-8?B?VGFsbFRvbQ==?= <TallTom@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in > news:20D40EB3-C873-4BAF-9D9E-77063BCBD658@microsoft.com: > > > I reinstalled Windows XP Home Edition today along with Service Pack 2. > > It picked the default graphics card fine (NVidia GEForce 2 MX400) > > correctly.
