USB Devices won't work in Windows

Hello, I've recently set up a new system. It's using a Biostar motherboard

(VIA Chipset), and running XP Pro.

I've got a generic USB mouse and keyboard - Neither have drivers.

I can navigate BIOS fine with the keyboard, but once Windows loads, any

lights (Scroll Lock, Caps Lock, Num Lock) go out and the keyboard is

unresponsive - A PS/2 keyboard works, however. I lack a USB -> PS/2 dongle

right now, so I can't use a mouse - I'm forced to use mousekeys and the PS/2

keyboard.

USB drivers have been installed, all USB settings in the BIOS are correct,

and in device manager, all USB ports / controllers are marked as functional.

The USB mouse and keyboard, on the other hand, are marked as "This device is

not configured correctly. (Code 1)"

I use a USB wireless card on that system, which has its own drivers, and it

works fine - I can load web pages without issue.

Any insight into my problem is muchly appreciated.
