Guest ronnienospamholland@sbcglobal.net Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Help!! My son, and kids came down for the weekend, and brought their injured Dell Inspiron 6400. Seems my grandaughter sprayed it with water. After they had a friend check it out, it was determined that only the screen was fried, and their friend had a dead Dell Inspiration 6000 with a good screen and they bought it. They brought it all to me (for unknown reasons ;} ) and I swapped out the screens. Darn if it didn't work! Problem is that when Windows XP Pro boots up, only 2/3 of the screen is working, and 1/3 rd of the screen looks like it is blank. So I've got a normal looking graphical view on a wide screen, that is Left Justified. I went into device manager and tried to get the laptop to recognize the new hardware, then go download the proper driver, but all I got was the message that the current driver was good. Can anyone please point me in the right direction on where to dl the driver from, and how to go about installing it? They are only down for the weekend (leaving today) and live 600 miles away, so I only have a short window for advice!
Guest DL Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Re: Driver Help, screen replacement If its a Laptop by Dell all the drivers are obtained from Dell, specific to the Tag# of the Laptop If the screen display is correct, ie it simply does not fill the full screen its probably a display setting, If however part of the display is missing theres more going on, probably to do with the repair or water, a driver wont make any difference <ronnienospamholland@sbcglobal.net> wrote in message news:46ff88b9.215076656@news.houston.sbcglobal.net... > Help!! > My son, and kids came down for the weekend, and brought their injured > Dell Inspiron 6400.
