Guest DL Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Re: HIDDEN ACCOUNT CREATION...? You shouldnt be using the default admin account for general use Their should have been, during the winxp set up, a default 'username' account setup, use that for general usage "oc9ine" <oc9ine@yahoo.co.uk> wrote in message news:%23HKbHy1AIHA.1356@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... > Hi everyone, > > I have winxp sp2. Can't be done; can be hidden, but that won't hide it from everything/everyone. ACCESS to it can be stopped, but you can't hide it across the board.

This part can't be done. The folders will always be visble, though you can restrict access to them. You cannot hide their existence. > I want to create such an account for my Net use Hiding the account folders will not really protect them. > so that I don't have to use my Admin account for Net or general use. You should *not* be using the system Administrator account for anything but system maintenance. Give that account a good password and leave it alone. Give the user accounts good passwords and change them regularly. HTH -pk > > Please me help in this regard. > > Thankx in advance 4 u r help and time. > > Oc9ine. >
Guest Winda Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Re: HIDDEN ACCOUNT CREATION...? |User account which should be hidden Not sure about creating a hidden account, but you can restrict access to it |i do not want to show its name in Welcome screen This can be done with TweakUI. |Documents and Settings folder displayed in the Root folder of Explorer Great diffuculty if you want to start creating some registry keys to achieve this, I managed to do similar with the Music, Pictures, and Video folders, not at the root, but under the desktop icon in Explorer, at the same level with the Documents, My Computer folders. You will need a tool to create GUIDs for this, and you will need to document what you have done along the way in case you need to remove what has been done. I am not sure if there are tools that will enable you to easily do this, but a search on 'Special Folder Tools", or 'Virtual Folder Tools' may be a start. By the way there are tools out there that will customise XP folders, like hiding them, making them private.... eg. http://www.fspro.net/hide-folders-xp/ Also do not use the Administrator Account XP creates on installation, create your own administrator account. - Winda "oc9ine" <oc9ine@yahoo.co.uk> wrote in message news:%23HKbHy1AIHA.1356@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... | Hi everyone, | | I have winxp sp2.
