WindowsUpdate Files storage...?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have winxp sp2. I want to know where does Windows update process store its

downloaded files. I mean those files may be deleted automatically after

installation, but Windows Update must have to keep these files before their

installation is done somewhere. I want to know that folder.

Plz help me in this regard.

Thanx 4 ur time n effort in advance.

I suggest you do not touch anything from updates. The storage for them is

minimal and deleting anything might affect something else.

I once found an inexplicable folder under the root of a USB external drive

that had a name like this:

56900c2a0fe971e2cf647ba6d5b069

(but not that.)

If you search on that, though, you'll find the explanation,

--which is this:

" XP will use for temporary storage purposes

the connected drive with the most free space.

It creates temporary folders named similar to yours:

56900c2a0fe971e2cf647ba6d5b069.

It usually cleans up after itself when done with Windows Update,

but not always. "
