Upgrading Install to SP2?

Hi there, I was recently told that it was possible to upgrade an installation

disc for Windows to contain SP2 on it for any future uses. As I'm currently

in possession of a disc that contains XP from shortly after it's release,

this would be great for when I format my hard drive in a few weeks. This

mostly stems from not wanting to have my hard drive only be partially

recognized and then having to partition the remaining space after upgradating

Windows. Any clarification and possible how-to? Thanks.

You need to create a "slipstreamed" installation CD.

Create a Slip Stream version of Windows XP

Here are some of the files you'll need to obtain in order to

follow this procedure:

Some are, some are not. Some OEM disks that have other updates applied

can't be slipstreamed. Dell disks are commonly like this.

It's easy to try. If it's a genuine MS disk, not OEM, it can almost

certainly be slipstreamed.

Get the SP2 full install, and Autostreamer. You will need enough hard disk

space and the ability to burn a CD from an image. Autostreamer will

generally make the process extremely easy, but will tell you that it can't

if your disk is not suitable.
