Guest kimiraikkonen Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Hi, When you're using standard screen on effect settings on XP SP2, try that: After desktop is loaded completely with no open application window at the end of desktop loading, normally desktop icons have shadows under them. But if you open some window or application then look back that icons: They have lost the shadows. But if you refresh desktop or press F5, the icon shadows come back. Why?
Guest Bob I Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Re: Desktop icons' loses shadows Have you installed the latest video card driver from the manufacturer yet? kimiraikkonen wrote: > Hi, > When you're using standard screen on effect settings on XP SP2, try > that: After desktop is loaded completely with no open application > window at the end of desktop loading, normally desktop icons have > shadows under them. Guest kimiraikkonen Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Re: Desktop icons' loses shadows The driver is the latest, System -> Advanced -> Performance -> Visual Effects tab, everything is selected.

Additionaly, as i stated, if you do nothing with the windows or applications, the shadows remain normally, but if you drag or bring some windows onto icons, the icons who had windows on them lose their shadows.
Guest Bob I Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Re: Desktop icons' loses shadows You may try reducing hardware acceleration on the video card. (Display properties, Settings, Advanced, Troubleshoot, move slider left, apply and test. You may have to move it 2 or three notches) kimiraikkonen wrote: > The driver is the latest, > > System -> Advanced -> Performance -> Visual Effects tab, everything is > selected. >

Or i couldn't explain the situation. When you refresh desktop, the shadows are there. But if you bring some window onto them, the icons which were under that window, loses shadows. Could you test?

YOU have the machine with the problem. YOU have to make the changes and test.
Guest kimiraikkonen Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Re: Desktop icons' loses shadows Bob I, Decreased video acceleration with no help. However that kind of things were not present under W2k and i have it wit the standard full-effect running XP theme. (blue bars, green start button)
Guest Bob I Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Re: Desktop icons' loses shadows Then it must be the video card or the driver. Not sure what Win2k has to do with the question. kimiraikkonen wrote: > Bob I, > Decreased video acceleration with no help.
