I have installed this on my partner's laptop for her to use Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 as her main method of sending/receiving emails. Her ISP is Orange. When she attempts to send emails she is presented with several errors. Is there a further set up that she must do?

I'm sure Orange email is web based Mikey, did they send her any POP3 settings at all.

 

What are the errors she is getting?

Can you post the error's. Without the details we can't get to the bottom of the problem

 

Yes, understood. I won't be seeing her until tomorrow, so will note down the errors then and let you see them.

Did a quick search and found this from someone with your sisters problem it might be worth a try

I got access to Orange email download using Thunderbird rather than MS Outlook. Set up a new email account as follows-

 

Select Server settings to enter details and outgoing server to enter smtp details

 

 

Username: yourname.orangehome.co.uk Note: don't add the @fs at the end

 

Incoming server: pop.orangehome.co.uk

 

Outgoing server: smtp.orangehome.co.uk

 

Password: same as when you log onto Orange netmail

 

For some odd reason this doesn't seem to work with Outlook - but it should!! Thunderbird's a nice email system - I'm jacking in MS Outlook. Best of luck.

Martman46 - thank you for that. I've been to see my partner this afternoon to make a note of the error messages. However when I go back this evening I will try what you suggest. In the meantime when she attempts to send an email she is presented with a box entitled MICROSOFT LDAP DIRECTORY with the following:

Server Name: NULL

Port: 328

User Name: Null

Password: (Blank)

Perhaps I should complete these with your suggestions Mart?

The error messages are:

Task 'pop.wanadoo.co.uk - Sending' reported error (0x80048002)'. This task was cancelled before it was completed.

Next one - as above but Receiving instead of Sending.

Task 'POP.ORANGE.CO.UK - Receiving' reported error (0x80CCC92)'. Your email server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password in your account properties. Under Tools, click E-mail accounts. The server responded: -ERR[AUTH]. Invalid login/password pair.

 

Hope this lot makes some sense?!!

If you are not using Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) Internet directory services,

 

remove the LDAP address book.

 

To do this, follow these steps:

1.Start Outlook.

2.On the Tools menu,

clickAccount Settings.

3.On the Address Books tab, click the LDAP address book that you want to remove, and then click Remove.

4.Click Close.

5.Exit and restart Outlook.
