Guest The_Newb_Avenger Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 When my uncle re-installed Windows for me, he configured it (and I don't know why) so that I don't have Disk Cleanup. It's not anywhere. The Run command cleanmgr doesn't work. It is not under Start --> All Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> Disk Cleanup And it's not under Properties --> General --> Disk Cleanup, in the drive I want to free up space in. Oh, and what does "Compress drive to save disk space" do? It won't mess up my files right? I'm just asking what does it do? So, is there a way to download this tool? Or at least one very similar to it? Thank you in advance.
Guest Gerry Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Re: Disk Cleanup. Try Start, Run, type "cleanmgr.exe" without the quotes and hit OK. Does it appear? What is your computer make and model? What is your Windows XP CD? How is it described on the face of the CD? -- Hope this helps. In theory it is possible to double the capacity of the disk drive. In practice, the gain in capacity isn't as large as this. The main problem with such schemes is that they always report the spare disk capacity based on this theoretical doubling, and the disk full error message comes as a complete surprise. With the low price of disk drives these days, such schemes are not worth the candle. Just bung in a bigger disk when you start to run out of space.

Or, http://www.ccleaner.com/ which many people like a lot better than cleanmgr anyway and it does more. -- Lem -- MS-MVP - Networking To the moon and back with 64 Kbits of RAM and 512 Kbits of ROM. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo_Guidance_Computer
