Guest Nina Kahn Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Selective Windows XP services get disabled involuntarily even if they are set to manual or auto. They go back to being disabled randomly when I log off, restart, or shut down/boot. Sometimes the services will stay at the settings I choose, but otherwise they will become disabled. I have the following set to auto: Telephony, Remote Access Connection Manager, Event Log, Windows Audio. Others are disabled or on manual by choice. But they all randomly become disabled. I cannot figure out what is going on. I checked my firewall/program control for any blocking issues. I checked for viruses/spyware. Also I used registry mechanic to check for registry issues. No problems came up for any of them and I'm really having trouble having to manually set all the services manually all the time. It's time consuming and annoying. Please give me any ideas for what may have happened to my OS. Thanks.
Guest PA Bear Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Re: Windows Services Disabled Involuntarily One or more options/settings in an ever-growing number of third-party applications may be disallowing the change(s) you make from "sticking". These include but are not limited to Ad-aware's Ad-Watch, Spybot Tea Timer, SpywareBlaster, SpySweeper, Spyware Doctor, Norton AntiVirus, McAfee VirusScan and/or Antispyware, and Zone Alarm (Free and Pro). -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE, OE, Security, Shell/User) AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.org/ Nina Kahn wrote: > Selective Windows XP services get disabled involuntarily even if they are > set to manual or auto.
