We're investigating ways to protect data from leaving our environment from USB drives. A hard policy of blocking USB ports is not a solution because of the number of exceptions. In Windows is there a way to detect (e.g. through powershell script, etc) when a USB drive is inserted into a port versus a USB charging cable/data cable for a phone (we're not ready to tackle the phone issue yet)?

Thanks.
