windows 10 Windows apps (Start menu, search, store, etc.) stopped working

Since yesterday pretty much every Windows app stopped working, they just crash when I try to open them. The start menu does pop up but trying to use any of the buttons on the left just makes it crash.

 

 

I tried re-registering all the apps, ran sfc /scannow (found no problems), still the same. Troubleshooters didn't help either, they just detect errors but can't fix them (Start menu troubleshooter says shell experience host and cortana are not installed correctly, search trouble shooter says there are problems with permissions).
