Morning,

I am a novice when it comes to PC's.

I have an Acer Aspire V3 771G that came as a Windows 8 machine. Microsoft kept pushing me to upgrade to Windows 10 so i did.

Things have more or less been fine for the past 18 months except my wifi has never worked since.

Anyway last Thursday the latest Windows 10 build 1703 I believe, sent my laptop over the edge and i now have this constant error message Driver Overran Stack Buffer.

I am a Microsoft Assure customer and after 2 long shifts with level 2 technicians it is still not working. They re-installed windows 10 twice to no avail from an ISO USB.

Then they said my machine cannot take Windows 10 (that's another debate on its own) and went for a clean install of Windows 8.1 via an ISO.

Whilst this worked at first on reboot the same error appeared now giving error code 0x0000001.

Level 2 tried to custom install via the ISO but the machine just loops into the same error when booting from the USB.

I am now waiting for another callback on Tuesday but have lost the will to live with the amount of time spent trying to fix this issue.

All i want is someone to tell me what the problem is and what i need to do to fix it?

Will a new hard drive and Windows 8.1 OS do the trick? does the Windows 8.1 dvd have the required repair tools to deal with any system file corruptions?

Any help most gratefully received.
