After installing the Creators Update, my headphones no longer receive audio (though they were working fine right before the update). My laptop can play audio through its speakers, but when I plug in my headphones (into headphone jack), nothing comes through (the speakers stop transmitting audio until I unplug the headphones, as usual).

The headphones no longer appear in the Device Manager nor in the list of Playback Devices.

I have tried:

  • Restarting the audio service
  • Restarting my computer
  • Installing more updates
  • Running Windows troubleshooters (the "Playing Audio" one and also the "Hardware and Devices" one)
  • sfc /scannow (it verified fine)
  • Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth (it says it completed successfully, but the problem persists)
  • Uninstalling audio drivers (one under "Sound, video and game controllers" ("High Definition Audio Device") and one under "Audio inputs and outputs" ("Speakers (High Definition Audio Device") -- there is also a "Microphone" under the Audio inputs/outputs, but nothing about headphones.) They always reappear within a couple seconds. I have also tried to update these drivers, but everything is apparently up-to-date.

https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/mediaq/2015/07/30/windows-10-audio-troubleshooting-tips/ recommended including the Hardware Ids for the "High Definition Audio Device"; they are these:

HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_111D&DEV_7605&SUBSYS_103C3581&REV_1001

HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_111D&DEV_7605&SUBSYS_103C3581
