Guest Kat Catching Mice

Problem: My mouse cursor is visible and moves, but cannot interact with most of the screen. The problem occurs sporadically. Sometimes, when I am able to click on a window, the click deactivates it and I have to use Alt + Tab to activate it. Also, in Chrome, I haven't tried in Explorer or Firefox, if I click a tab it will close it, but is capable of opening new tabs when I hit the new tab button. I can usually make everything go back to normal if I use Ctrl + Alt + Delete and open the task manager (opening the task manager with Ctrl + Shift + Esc doesn't make the computer responsive like the other method).

I've tried the following to fix the problem:

1. Restoring to a previous restore point

- I received errors when I did this and have not been able to do this 0x81000204 is the current error warning. It had displayed error 0x80070571, but that went away.

2. Ran chkdsk/r and chkdsk/f

3. Changing mice

My other options to try are deleting McAfee LiveSafe, however I don't believe it has created issues since being installed in 2014, and resetting. I really don't want to do the reset if at all avoidable just because it'll just be more work to reinstall everything.

Thank you for your help!
