I have a PC that originally had Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit installed. I upgraded to Windows 10 Home 32 bit during the free upgrade period. I now want to install Windows 10 Home 64 bit, and it will not install.

**I am pretty sure this PC had 64 bit when it was first purchased - and I switched to 32 bit**

I tried to do a full clean installation with Windows 10 64 bit. It will start the installation and after a while the screen goes black and does not complete the installation. I let it sit for about 3 hours once and still did not complete. It does not bring up any error messages or anything.

I tried to install the original Windows 10 release, Windows 10 Anniversary Update (1607), and also Windows 10 Creator Update (1703). NONE of them will complete installation!

I have tried burning the ISO to DVD, also used a USB Flash Drive. I went into BIOS and changed boot sequence for full installation using both methods. Also tried doing the upgrade from within Windows 7.

Am I not able to install 64 bit since I have currently have 32 bit? -- I KNOW with Windows 7 you can install either or whenever!

How can I get my PC to install Windows 10 64 bit?
