I have seen a lot of post and conversations regarding a windows update error 0x80070424 dating as far back as 2012 - they all seem to have "fixes" none of which has worked, at least for me anyway. I just spent over an hour on the phone with Microsoft (case #1392209956) they accessed my computer and made some changes, and did whatever they did to try to "fix" the problem, ran the update again and still received the same error message. This is so irritating!! Now I have to wait for a return call from the so called "Research Team" in 3 days. Here's my issue with this . . .if Microsoft has known about an update error for the past 5 years, why haven't they been able to fix this issue or at least train their techs to know how to fix this issue.

My whole computer is at risk because I can't install all the required updates, I can't install iTunes, and several other things I'd like to add. Is there anyone out there that has had success in resolving this problem? I am running Windows 7 - 64 bit.

Thank you,
