My older Win 7 pc went west last weekend, so I went to the web to order a new one. It's quite right that hardware manufacturers are selling only current Windows 10 equipment. If you manage to find a Win 7 pc on a retail site, it'll be 7-8 years old [though sold as new because it hasn't been used]. My gone-west HP one had a hdmi/dvi socket so it could be used with a wide-screen TV - vga just has a pic in the middle of the display. Unless you can find a converter adapter somewhere, and an engineer acquaintance says the model I was looking at won't have "digital" output, the vga pc is useless in this situation. So I've ordered a Win 10 from HP.

 

I was dreading this transition to Win 10. As all new versions, I always tried to wait until the "bugs" were eliminated before moving up. I'll try to resist downgrading to Win 7. If I come out sane, I'll report on my experience.
