I know this is a super old thread (and honestly I don't even expect a reply), but I have the exact same problem but on an Asus laptop. Really all Windows does is prompt me to activate it a few times a day, but it's still really annoying. Even more annoying is trying to fix this problem.

My problem only started after upgrading to Windows 10 and doing a downgrade back to Windows 8. (I found Windows 10 to make my computer run slower, I think that's the main reason I downgraded back. Also, I'm pretty sure I used some built in tool in Windows 10 to downgrade back because I don't remember losing anything installed on my PC).

Anyways, if you have found a fix for this I'd love to hear it! I've already tried contacting customer support (I think you can guess how that went). I'm thinking that maybe Windows had server issues "

  • You upgraded to Windows 10, but the activation servers were busy. If you upgraded from an activated copy of Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, your copy of Windows 10 will be automatically activated, or you can wait a while and then select Activate. If you continue to have problems with activation, contact customer support.

" (from https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/10738/windows-10-get-help-with-activation-errors) What worries me is this part: "or you can wait a while and then select Activate" I don't remember doing that! Maybe I had downgraded too fast without Windows activating on Windows 10. I don't know. Or maybe Windows gave me some default key when downgrading since I think I'm also able to find my key online.

Thanks a lot if anyone can reply to this! In the meantime, I'll try to look around elsewhere for answers.
