Win 10 does not recognize my external Hard Drive

Worked fine until today, Win 10 does not list it under devices, cannot access through short cuts on my computer. I've shut down and unplugged and restarted computer and still it doesn't recognize the external hard drive. Check for updated driver and that didn't help. What could have happened overnight????? I shut my computer down every night and start fresh every morning.
