wifi stops working suddenly

I have an ACER Aspire S7-191 running win10 which automatically updated recently. A shrt while after the update wifi stopped working. I can connect to internet through cable.

 

 

I tried loading an older version of the Qualcomm Atheros ARBMD222 driver -- no effect

 

I tried Manually reloading WLAN autoconfig -- no effect except that o get a message that the path to the exe does not exist. It does exist!

 

I tried running the svchost.exe directly -- no effect

 

 

I tried using a USB wifi module -- The computer recognises it and loads the drivers. Again does not work. Incidentally this was a TP-LINK T4UH with the very latest software driver.
