Updated Windows 11, got black screen, laptop won't turn on
by Guest angelpie99- 0 replies

I had to restore my computer to before the last update, after having problem with the machine. I should have just left it there (lesson learned), but I decided to update it. It only gave me one option, update 2410. After it installed, a popup asked me if I wanted secure boot. I unchecked the box and continued. My screen went black, but the computer was still on. I turned it off to try to reboot it, but it won't even turn on now. I can't find my repair boot disk. My windows 10 machine doesn't qualify for Windows 11, so I can't make one. Anyway, it won't turn on, so a boot disk won't do any good Continue reading...

After Win 11 update, right-click does not work on some items found on Start (Context?) Menu - suggestions?
by Guest DavMor54- 0 replies

After Windows 10 (Pro) to Windows 11 (Pro) update, left-click selection now does not work on some items found on Start (Context?) Menu accessed by right-clicking the Start button - specifically: Event Viewer, Device Manager, Disk Management, Computer Management, Task Manager and File Explorer although any/ all of these programs will run if accessed in other (more convoluted!) ways. Other items on this menu, eg Installed Apps, Power Options, System, etc work correctly when selected. I've tried Win 11 Repair, DISC, SFC and using latest drivers (I believe). Help! Thank you. I had my laptop brought to a service center recently so they had my unit reformatted and reinstalled the OS I think. So now, I'm trying to revert my preferred settings, but I noticed that my volume and brightness sliders are now located at the top left. I tried looking it up but some said I should have Windows 11. I am on Windows 11. I cant find other solutions that would give me the bottom-center slider that I want. Most suggestions online were telling other users with the same problem to download an app. I don't want to do that since I already had the middle slider without downloading anythi Continue reading...

I have another question on this topic. That is, my disk was not formatted?, all the files on my desktop are still there
by Guest Эрнст007- 0 replies
Dear Эрнст,Thanks for your quick reply, the answer is yes. The partition format you described can exist on a disk with Windows installed. FAT32 and NTFS are file system formats supported by Windows systems, and their respective uses are also in line with system design requirements. Therefore, this format is possible and is a normal configuration.I hope the above information is helpful to you.Best WishesPyke.D | Microsoft Community Support Specialist Continue reading...

tcpip.sys BSOD, complete OS corruption
by Guest Smith_5- 0 replies

An update installed on 2024-08-23 completely brutalized an entire Windows 11 installation, to the point that safe mode isn't bootable. The whole thing left me shocked. Resetting from an online image did nothing. Using the additional recovery option given by the bootable installer through USB just reboots into the installer. Nothing works, and the tcpip.sys error seems definitely misleading as all search results point towards a bootable OS, which this isn't. Of note is that, as long as a clean shut down is done from the recovery menu, all files are accessible from a Linux live USB. Is there a f Continue reading...
