This is a very cool group you have going here. I find it quite interesting how computers behave at times. Sometimes you wonder if they have a mind of their own or not. These posts are quite interesting and educational for me - I've learned a bit about the errors that can occur. Scan your computer for Errors For Free! http://errors.www-marketingpros.com

Re: Password problem Crossposted to Win95 General Discussion. The page http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/dta/plata01/ suggests that the machine's running Windows 95 (which, like Win98, is no longer supported by Microsoft). hello, i have lurked a little here to try and find an answer to a problem. i have an old dell latitude laptop that was running win 95. it has been on the shelf in the closet for a while and i would like to give it to a niece for school. i tried to update windows to 2000, not quite the most current windows but my thinking being it's better than 95. anyway trouble started after going on line after installing win2000, computer froze, updates never installed, stuck on "verifying windows version is legal .." which it is. so not to give up i figure the hell with the updates i'll go with it like it was for now. when i reboot, or try to reboot all hell breaks loose. wi…

OT but Important: Usenet Abuse and Impersonation by a sick individual using IP address 117.63.167.194 Hi: To all respective forum readers, please take notice: 1) First of all, my apologies for such a wide off-topic cross- posting. It's unusual, and very frowned upon. But I deem it necessary in lieu of recent events. You can just disregard if you will. 2) There is a user on the net who has impersonated "Don Klipstein", me, as well as other respectable Usenet posters. He/she is using our names, email addresses, and profiles to post nonsense on Usenet newsgroups. This impersonator seems to be located either in Burma or Korea and has the IP address of 11…

Win95 Time Machine

Hello.. I'm posting this with a Seanix P266 (overclocked to 300MHz) and designed for Windows 95 and running Windows 95. It feels like I'm back in 1996 again when I first started on the internet. I was on the internet before most folks knew what it was. At that time, I was using a 486 with a 2mb Trident video card and 16mbs of ram. I was on dial up and I thought I had everything! I will never forget that feeling when I configured my computer and got connected for the first time..wow. I have been on the internet ever since. OK, well, bye.

What is process for reinstalling windows 95. I, have an old computer I'm donating...and I wiped it and reformated, but now I can't get windows 95 to open, only dos prompts. and I don't know that much about dos. I have cd I got several years ago from e-bay for reinstalling, and diskette, but have forgotten procedures in the meantime. (!!!) I would like to load the windows 95 back on, and put on the office 95 I have too, so the next person can put the computer to good use. unfortunately, every reference to windows 95 install is over my head.... guess the writers assume I should know what they're talking about! and I don't!!!! -- Message posted vi…

WIN95 Registry problem & can't get to Start Up Menu
by Guest Robin- 9 replies
- 1.2k views
Have a win95 system that will not boot, says there's a problem with the registry, need to restore registry and reboot, and then I can't get it to do anything else, nothing. I'm trying to get to the startup menu to boot to safte mode. Everything I've read says to hit F8 when the 'start windows 95' screen appears. I do this but nothing happens. I get the 'start windows 95' blue screen twice during startup. I try hitting F8 (over & over again) at both times but it doesn't give me the start menu. I've tried F10, F9, & F4 also. Any ideas? The system ran fine Monday & shutdown seemed to run properly. Tuesday AM it would not boot. I have …

What connected to RS-232
by Guest phwashington@comcast.net- 3 replies

We are trying to run a program and everytime we start it up it says that something is connected to the RS-232 port and that it can't use it. This has worked fine for 8 years , but someone started screwing around with it yesterday and now whenever we try and start up the program it indicates that the RS-232 program is already in use. I'm not completely sure of the logistics of what happened, but was told that someone deleted the directory in Program Files for the program and then re-installed it. So I'm trying to figure out where in the registry or how I can trace back and figure out what is connecting to the RS-232 port.
