Size of harddrives to Ghost with NT Server 4.0
by Guest wombat52002@yahoo.co.uk- 5 replies

I have a legacy server with NT 4.0 server. I have ghosted back up drives around 80 GB IDE/ATA and they have been fine. I recently bought some 160 GB IDE and they ghost but they will not boot. Should I stick to buying 40, 60 or 80 GB IDE's to ghost. I can still find new drives in a box in 40-80 GB range. Is there something in NT Server 4.0 that cannot handle drives over 80 GB? I will be moving to VmWare soon. Thanks.

Program failure with SRVANY.exe
by Guest Laura- 0 replies
I have used SRVANY.exe to run the rmiregistry and a java program as a window service. However, if either of these services terminate (the registry or java program) then srvany does not pick up on it and the service does not restart. I have the service properties set to "restart on service failure". I tried to set up the two programs as individual services with one service having a dependency on those two. Nothing has worked so far. Anyone have any ideas?

Mouse cursor sticks
by Guest John Gonser- 0 replies

As I move the cursor across a page (using the mouse) it sticks on the edge of some fields and won't allow me to move the cursor across the field. I can defeat this by either very rapidly moving the cursor or by approaching the desired field from another direction. I haven't found anything in my settings that should cause this. The condition is most dramatic when using internet applications. Any suggestions?

Hello after applying Microsoft Security Bulletin MS03-001 Unchecked Buffer in Locator Service Could Lead to Code Execution (810833) gives some problems on this dual processor NT4 - Sp6A system. ** The information at http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=810833 looks about the same as my pdf file made at 26 January 2003 ** Since applying the patch to this system I have some trouble starting up which might take two or three tries. Since I have installed the patch for a part the first time (forgot to switch off the NOd 32 AV) and later I installed completely I can't roll the patch back. I can't find what files are involved in this patch but I would be happy if s…

I'm not a techy and the only reason you could be reading this is that you're not a techy also but you have a "Blue Screen Error" crash that happens whenever you do the following: 1) Loading Microsoft Windows 2) Loading Microsoft Excel 3) Using a Tally software 4) You moved your mouse Its also know as the Blue Screen of Death, where the entire computer screen turns blue, and asks if you have installed any new hardware or software in the past. Here are a few things you can do to help you fix the problem.... Details at http://bluescreenofdeatherrors.blogspot.com/

DISKPART-like utility for Windows NT?
by Guest Taed Wynnell- 1 reply

We have a large number of remote Windows NT Server systems that we want to wipe clean and replace with a Windows Server 2003 disk image. To do that, we were considering doing something like: -- Create a new bootable partition -- Copy a WinPE disk image into it -- Mark the WinNT partition as not bootable -- Reboot the system, thus booting into WinPE -- Delete the old WinNT disk partition -- Create a new Win2003 disk partition -- Copy the disk image into the Win2003 disk partition -- Reboot and we're done! We've done the latter steps previously, so we're not bothered by the WinPE work. But to get there, we need to be able to…

I have nt4 sp6 on drive D of a 10gig WD HD but it only sees 8 gigs? Also I have DOS and Win 3.1 on Drive C. Neither of these see the full HD and DOS does not see the cd rom on this 133 packard bell. Now I would like to install the original Win 95. Since my current boot up is dual where I type Win to enter win 3.1, what would be the best way to install this and fix the other issues? thanks mc

DLL missing Certificeat Manager
by Guest Chuck- 0 replies

..Hello, When I attempted to register my ssl certificate, I could not find Certificates in the mmc Add Remove Snap In window. During investigation I found that CertMgr.msc was in my system32 folder, but CertMgr.dll was not. In fact it doesn't appear to be on the server when doing a file search. Where can I go (and trust) to find this file so I can download it? Thanks! Chuck
