IE7
by Guest Alvaro- 3 replies

Internet Explorer 7 is a total disgrace. It provides for security not requested, and if it had some efficiency it would be nice, but it is taking minutes to go from one window to the next! On the other hand it has converted my screen into its private billboard. It pops up instructions at every turn. Unless somebody can advice me how to permanently kill off the pop-ups and a how to drastically improve its performance I am going back to version 6. Thanks in advance for any and all help. Alvaro

Hello, I've got a friend running XP Home SP2 and when he creates an new user account it doesn't allomw him to login to that account. It doesn't matter if he adds a password or not. If he doesn't add a password, it still asks for one. If he adds a password and then tries to enter that password to login, it doesn't accept it. Why would this happen? How can I fix it for him? Thanks, Jeff

Restore points as a solution to all problems
by Guest Eric Anderson- 3 replies
Questions: 1. I just found that I only have restore points back to the first week of August, but my computer was received in late June and I have been installing things right along. There is a checkbox that says to check it to get restore points older than 5 days, but that only displays a few more restore points. How do I get it to save restore points older than a few weeks. 2. Is there a way to edit the registry or have it "repaired" for standard Microsoft features that does not require reverting to an older version and losing EVERYTHING you have done as far as installs? Background: Several things do not work as they should and the solution is always to…

Event Viewer - System
by Guest Patty- 9 replies
I recently checked the Event Viewer for System in my computer and discovered that nothing has been logged there since 8/28/2004. Does that mean I've had no errors or anything to be logged or does it mean that somehow the logging has gotten turned off? I do show current log information for Antivirus and Application, but wonder why System stopped in August 2004? Any info greatly appreciated. Patty

Reinstalling Windows on another HDD w/ same CD key
by Guest Ian Coolidge- 2 replies
I made the fatal flaw of building a system with a PATA hard drive instead of a SATA hard drive. After living with it for 6 months I decided enough was enough and I went out and bought 2 SATA hard drives for a RAID0 configuration. I don't wanna spend another 100+ dollars on a new CD key nor do I want to wait for my Student MSDN liscense to renew in October to get another (basically free) copy of Windows. Is there a way I can reinstall windows using the same CD key I used before? I hear if I activate over the phone it is easier to do since I talk to an actual person. Can anyone give me some guidance in this? Is it possible to do? Thanks, -Ian

Is there anything else anyone can suggest I try before ordering a new UDMA cable? Thanks! Amber

Re: Large Hard Drives Twanny, http://biosagentplus.com/?PHPSESSID=pl3d2de210ir8mav7k8tr8e2s2 This place wants to sell you the whole chip (hard to repalce if soldered in for those that are not technicians) At any rate I got the binary from them with s/w that also installs and backups your old file. I had already used my own method to backup the file which I am glad I did. http://www.esupport.com I did the boot from floppy flash and my PC would no longer go into post. I had to unsolder my eprom, installed a socket, use the UV eprom eraser at my job and I manually put my old file back on in the prgrammer at work. http://www.esupport.com never did make t…

Synchronize not working
by Guest Ken G.- 0 replies
I've tried to set up file synchronizing between my desktop (XP pro) and my laptop (MCE) on a home wireless network. As far as I can see I've done it correctly and when I log on and log off and both computers are on it shows the sync window and says it was successful but when I check the folders on each computer new files haven't been added and existing ones are not updated. The same happens if I do a manual sync from either computer. What am I doing wrong?

What is a fully Unicode font?
by Guest Afshar Mohebbi- 2 replies

Dear Friends, I'm wondering what it means when someone claim that a font is fully Unicode compatible or "This font supports Unicode"? Does it mean the font has glyph for all Unicode characters like ArialUni.TTF? I'm working with a series of Persian(Farsi) fonts and I'm getting very confused. Please Help me!!
