All of my file folders used to have columns showing Date Modified, Date Created and Date Accessed. For some reason it now only shows one column: Date Accessed. How can I get the other two categories back. I must have changed a setting inadvertently. Thank you -- Walter http://www.rationality.net -

CD-R & DVD+R's crash PC
by Guest Gerry- 2 replies

I keep a collection of *.jpg photos on CD-R's and DVD+R's using "Sonic's" DLA for recording and finalizing the CD's. That worked on my old Dell as well as on my new HP Pavilion & Compaq laptop. Recently ejecting the CD's after viewing, both PC's crash and blue screen is asking to check for BIOS updates or Hardware updates. Could have HP's automated updates have caused that change? Any help is greatly appreciated. Gerry

Driver Installation Problem

Error Pic: http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/1865/drivererrormsgyp5.jpg System Info: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (Build 2600) DirectX Version 9.0c Greetings, I’m having a problem installing a driver for my USB device(Playstation Portable). I’ve downloaded the driver from 3 different sources, plus had a friend verify it on his PC so I know for a fact that the driver works. Is there a way to install it manually using CMD or modifying the Registry? Can Devcon install the driver? If so, please post the commands for it. Any help is appreciated.

I was cleaning up my sister's pc from excess programs that came pre-loaded onto her computer. Anyway, got distracted and I accidentally removed a Conexant 3D Audio program (through Control Panel: Add or Remove Programs.) now her computer has no sound. Can I restore that program? And is that the only program necessary for sound?

What is the "MCI command handling window" application.
by Guest Paul Randall- 1 reply

I'm trying to install the Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools on my WXP SP2 system. After agreeing to terms and allowing the default installation destination, I get a message saying: Setup has detected that you are running the "MCI command handling window" application. Setup requires that this application is closed. Please close the application and run setup again. I do have a lot of windows open, but I don't recognize any of them as being the "MCI command handling window" I'd like assistance in identifying this application on my system so I can close it. Thanks, -Paul Randall

My windows xp was pre-installed on the ACER laptop when I purchased it. I took it into work for a cleaning- meaning remove useless old files to clear space. Next thing I know my office tools are not working indicating they are missing file Pro.MSI file. Not being able to locate this file AND desperate to get back to work I decided to back everything up and try and restore my system from the ACER recovery disks. This is not working. I tried to uninstall office xp and on reinstall am told I am currently working off a more current version and it cant install the older one. WHAT DO I DO?????

XP Pre-SP3 Bugs

In Windows Live Messenger 8.1 I have a friend who is in 2 lists, the group that I can instant message and the group that I can't, and if I delete either one of them to streamline the lists - the friend disapears from boths lists! Also the password doesn't save even when I choose the option and reset the computer while using a guest account. Sonic DigitalMedia Plus v7 (OEM that came with Compaq Presario V4240US) this program hangs everytime I use it, and it seems like the only way to close it is to ctrl+alt+del...while using a guest account. boooo! Any upgrades? Is there a time limit to the amount of time that program can run with elevated privileges? T…

synchronize network drive, lost hard drive free space
by Guest bfot123@gmail.com- 1 reply

Hi Please help me with this. we have a computer in our office, I synchronized the network drive(make available offline), so the user can see the network files while offline. Once I synchronized the network drive I lost hard drive free space because the local computer makes a copy of network files on the computer. But it uses all my hard drive space so I disabled synchronization, then I get all my free space back. This morning I found my hard drive free space is gone, my C drive now got 0KB free space Do you guys know what the problem could be? Do you know where are the network files saved to on my C drive?so I can delete them thanks

I need to set up a form so it is mostly uneditable except for a few blanks that a local user can fill in. For a local condo assocation board, there are some forms that each board member needs to send out occasionally to individuals in the condos. These board members are not all that savvy about word processors. When I initially sent the MSWord-based forms for them to fill out and print on their own, they wreaked havoc with the formatting. I need to be able to give them a file that has a form letter with a few blanks they can fill it, but without permitting them to do anything to the basic form letter. What I need, I guess, is something that would behave …
