Automatically clearing "Preferred Networks" list
by Guest Jack B. Pollack- 2 replies

I am looking for a way through a batch file, reg file, etc. to clear the "Preferred Networks" list in Win XP. I found references to the SSID's in 2 registry keys: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\EAPOL\Parameters\Interfaces\{93BA05F9 -E76A-4F5F-A0B5-A2D700210346} HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WZCSVC\Parameters\Interfaces\{93BA05F9 -E76A-4F5F-A0B5-A2D700210346} Even after deleting these keys (and rebooting) the "Preferred Networks" list is not clear. Anyone have any idea where the remaining settings are stored and how to clear the list automatically? Thanks

Re: Windows XP SP3 if you build systems often enough, having the full sp3 installer handy instead of fetching 80mb worth of updates from WU everytime sure saves you a lot of time. so yeah, i'd be waiting for sp3 too for that reason. cheers, Chris "Jeff Layman" wrote: > Why? If logon is fast "network cable is unplugged"
by Guest kimiraikkonen- 1 reply

I've been experiencing that problem since upgraded to XP Pro SP2. If my logon and XP loading process is fast and if i logon via AUTO-LOGON and although my ethernet cable is plugged properly, i get "network cable is unplugged". This is such a fake because i can browse websites normally although that message. A tip worked me for a long time but still suddenly i got the same problem: Start > Run: GPEDIT.MSC > Computer Configuration > Administrative Tools > System > Logon > Wait for the network at logon and restart > activate. But strangely started to get the same problem and my windows loading time became very shorter than before. …

by Guest Gordillo6- 1 reply

I have never used Notepad but now I have to. (I have formerly used Word for all my text processing.) I’m running Windows XP. If I try to open notepad with “All Programs” > “Accessories” > notepad, I immediately get a pop-up window that is titled “Problem with Shortcut” and the text after the exclamation point reads “The drive or network connection that the shortcut ‘Notepad.lnk’ refers to is unavailable. Make sure that the disk is properly inserted or the network resource is available, and then try again.” However when I directly go to “My Computer” > “Local Disk” > “Program Files” I see notepad.exe and I can click it and open it. So I can…
