Start bar missing PLEASE HELP!!!
by Guest Q_Surf- 4 replies

i installed antispyware s/w (SpywareDetector) on my gf's laptop (Win XP). when it 1st ran i quarantined all the flagged files and then rebooted. it now has NO START MENU BAR - which includes the wireless connection icons so it can't even go online. so far i've: 1) ensured it wasn't just an unchecked option in "display" 2) looked in the log files for removed windows files 2) tried to contact the s/w company to no avail (SPYWARE DETECTOR SUCKS!!!) 3) tried to run the win xp "restore" program - but it doesn't seem to run for some reason. at this point i think i need to do a "reinstall" of win xp which will reportedly replace all missing &/or damaged w…

Hello, I have Samsung UMPC Q1 with XP on it. It has Broadcom Bluetooth chip 2045 I tried connecting external GPS receiver, but the PC claims there are no services on the receiver. I connected external USB Bluetooth device, and it can work and identify the services on the GPS receiver, it also work fine on my other laptop (Thinkpad), so I guess the issue is the BT drivers on my UMPC. Can it be upgraded? Where do I find the SW as its not on Boradcom Regards, Roni SAMSUNG BROADCOM 2045 BLUETOOTH 2.0 USB DEVICE VER 2.1.92.220

Hello, I have a problem that I hope someone has some experience with and can help. Each time I sign on to a website that is https (secure), a page pops up that says (there is a problem with this website's certificate........ ). I'm allowed to either go on, which is not recommended or click out. If I go on, the address bar becomes red. However, problem still remains, I cannot access the proper page. Example: I go to ebay.com. I go to the sign on page. The page pops up. I then did what the microsoft support said and click on the go ahead and then click on the Certificate Error on the address bar and install the certificate. This doesn't help. Furthermo…

How can you Copy a file to all existing profiles?
by Guest David Allen- 8 replies

I would like to copy 5 shortcut files from a central network location to the c:\documents and settings\"user"\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\ directory. I would like this to copy to each profile that exists on the computer (however many there are) or basically show up for any user (new or existing) that logs on the computer. I have tried copying them to the "All Users" directory but that did not work. I tried in my script file to use the %userprofile% variable but the problem with that is I am using an agent with an agent credential to push it out and it will copy to the agent profile's folder instead of the main user. …

Hi All, I have purchased a second hand 1600 series Cisco Router. I am attempting to recover the password but to no avail. What am i missing - i must be dumb or stupid or both!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have an xp operating system. The password recovery instructions advise me to switch on the router and press cntl-break so that i can get into the ROM to change the password. The question is what/where/who/ is the Break key??????????? There is no Break key on the keyboard so i am assuming that it is only a known key to cisco administrators? Or am i being stupid? Any help to identify this key combination would be greatly appreciate…

Just wondering if there is a way for me to automate shutdown and startup for my PC, it's often idle during the day and overnight and just wanted to save power. Is there a utility that lets me specify what time of day these events occur, say shutdown every day at midnight and power back on at 3PM each day?

I know there is a key or key combination you press before Window fully loads to stop startup programs from loading. This is only temporary so I am not looking to remove any programs from the startup folder. Does anyone know what the keys are? Thanks.
