by Guest LB- 3 replies

Hello all, Winxp prof, SP3 I have found a very few post on this issue but ever since uninstalling IE 8 my machine has become a dog. I am getting this error: Event Type: Error Event Source: Userenv Event Category: None Event ID: 1041 Date: 9/16/2008 Time: 8:04:28 AM User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM Computer: INFODEV Description: Windows cannot query DllName registry entry for {CF7639F3-ABA2-41DB-97F2-81E2C5DBFC5D} and it will not be loaded. This is most likely caused by a faulty registration. When I look up the Guid in the registery I see that it is under GPExtensions. The errors come in groups of 4 and all point to the GPExtensions guids. Any i…

Time Zone keeps changing...?
by Guest Kenneth- 14 replies
Howdy, I run XP SP3... Perhaps two years ago, the system started changing its time zone setting quite frequently (and apparently randomly.) If I recall correctly, there was a download from MS that corrected the problem. I ran it, and all has been well since. Until about a week ago... Now, I have the problem again: I am East Coast US, but at least every day, my system sets itself to Brasilia. I checked the MS site, and attempted to run the DL that I believe corrected the problem in the past, but I got an error telling me that I had a newer version of XP, and did not need the update. What can I do to correct this difficulty? Many thanks, -- …

missing dll files after installing sp3
by Guest DLandry- 4 replies
after the automatic install of sp3, I am receiving 2 error messages at startup: The first one reads: The procedure entry point apsSearchInterface could not be located in the dynamic link library wlanapi.dll. The second one reads the same, substituting apsGetReady for apsSearchInterface. also IE webpabes do not change accurately. New web pages return a message that the web page is unavailable. If I refresh the link 1-3 times, it is responding correctly. I don't know what this means, nor how to fix it. I would greatly appreciate any help offered. Thank you.

They did have info at that site but was like reading gobbly-gook to me anyway, Thanks to you all much wiser user's than I.

We have restricted users that need access to change power settings. Don't ask why, politics. We do not want to run to every laptop to do this. We are Novell, not microsoft servers for these PC's.

Help please, Windows Explorer and My Computer - locks up!
by Guest cccdddrrr@hotmail.co.uk- 0 replies

XP SP3. Everything's been fine, up until today. If I use Windows Explorer, then try to look at My Computer, it freezes up! I haven't done any updates recently, the only thing I was playing around with recently was an external HDD, which can be a bit troublesome at times. Thanks a lot for any thoughts, best regards, Robert.

I have a file on the network with access to it for 3 people. When you open a file in the folder ( excel or word ) and then try to save it to the same location it says read only. The file will save to desktop but not the folder. The person who is the owner can not even save to it. Any ideas please?

by Guest Bryan- 0 replies

Hello: I have a Windows 2003 Server Environment. I have 40 Windows XP computers on my environment. I push all the Windows updates from my server to all the workstations using WSUS. I have set it so after it installs the updates it will reboot automatically. One computer in particular, after it rebooted and user logs in he doesn't get his own profile, he gets a brand new profile. He has to reboot the computer one more time in order to get his old profile back. Is their a fix for this issue? Thanks in Advance
