by Guest RJK- 10 replies

HOW do I copy or move my (ide) XP Home (all MS updated) boot partition, to a SATA hd ? I've got Ghost 9, can I do it with that ? ATM I have xp home sp2 on PATA hd on ide0. There are two SATA 150 ports on my motherboard and after going around in circles for ages and noting that I don't have eSATA ....and can't do SATA2/300...etc ...phew ! ...etc. ....oh my God, where was I ? If I fit two SATA hd's (I don't want RAID - not supported on my board anyway), ...I'd at least get my transfer speeds back to what they were when I had, (different mobo), 2 x ATA133 IDE hd's in my main system box using UDMA6, ...before changing motherboard / slipped up and ended…

by Guest Jack B- 4 replies

A Win XP pc suffered a HD crash. Put in new HD and reinstalled. However, the new HD is recognized as Local Disk (E) instead of Local Disk ©. I am having problems with drivers for the Ethernet card and the video and others. Is that because the Local Disk © is not there anymore? How do I fix that? Jack

Sound and Audio Devices
by Guest Rabble- 3 replies

My default settings for Sounds and Audio Properties do not work. If I go to Hardware Properties, My Soundmax Audio is indicated as "Enabled" but, in reality it is not and I have to disable it then "Enable' it again to get Audio to work. My Volume Properties in S and A shows "No Audio Device" and no Volume Control is available in the Task Bar until I do the reset. The Audio shows a default of "Modem#3 Line Playback". The same for Record. No MIDI device shown. This happens every time that I close down. I have reinstalled SoundMax - any ideas on this problem please TIA Ron

Macro question
by Guest Menno Hershberger- 15 replies

I need to set up a simple macro that will input "######" (a 6 number sequence) with one keystroke. I've run into a situation where I need to type every phone number in town into a form... along with related info. It has to be the full 10 digit number with area code and prefix. So the first 6 numbers will always be the same. I'd like to just hit like F7 or something to input the first 6 numbers and then just type in the remaining 4. This would have to be a Windows thing because the specialized software we're using doesn't have any provisions for hotkeys. I used to set up stuff like that in DOS, but don't have a clue about how to do it in Windows. Can any…
