IE7 problems......
by Guest matlaw- 5 replies

hello all, several problems i'm experiencing. for starters, this computer is running multiple accounts, each account seems different in a bad way. one account is utterly perfect while the rest suffer from odd disorders. they are varied but all but that one account share the same problems. 1. starting up IE7 takes you to the runonce which shows nothing but a blue screen because the page has an "error" as it says on the bottom left of the window where the status bar is. 2. flash is disabled and any attempts at reinstalling it were unsuccessful. I uninstalled and reinstalled it from the perfect account but the other accounts are almost "isolated" or somethin…

I have a computer whose minimize and maximize settings do not stay set. For instance if I open IE it will open in a small window and I can maximize it, but when I close IE and then open another IE window it is back to the small window. How can I fix this so it remembers the last setting? Thanks, Enrique

by Guest DeanB- 3 replies

I have a live view camera page that updates itself on the browser (6.0 sp2), and every time it does so there is a click - some kind of system beep that's very short but exceedingly annoying. How can I turn it off? I need to keep the sound on for other purposes and to listen to the microphone of the camera, so don't say turn off the speakers! Thanks! Dean

running SFC from the command line (no GUI)
by Guest Thufir- 2 replies

In Vista, it's possible to go: start, search, "cmd", right click to run with Administrator priveledges, then enter "sfc /scannow" for the Windows File Protection (WFP) utility. This is awesome, implying that it's possible to boot to safe mode with command prompt, in Vista, and run the SFC. Can the same be done from XP? I know that the registry can be modified so that the SFC looks for the dll's in the recovery partition. thanks, Thufir

Windows going slow
by Guest John- 13 replies
Hi I just reinstalled win xp pro and it was quiet slick in the beginning. As I started installing apps like Office 2007 and IE 7 it started getting slower. Is this normal? I also used the win xp settings and files transfer wizard to transfer IE and Outlook Express settings but can't say for sure if it had any adverse effect too as I did not check immediately afterwards. Can I speed up windows somehow? Thanks Regards

Hi all hoping someone can help, the problem I've got is when switching from one user to another the new on won't load properly, it goes as far as loading the desktop but freezes when loading the task bar. Was working okay till recently , if I remove my daughters user will the files be saved anywhere ? so that I can get them back if I create her user again, also is it worth having multiple users ? got 4 kids all wanting their own accounts but will this slow the computer down ? not worried about the security side as I have programs to monitor them...sorry its long winded but thanx for any help.........
