Hence this process B again creates another process C with it's lpdesktop of startupinfo structure set to "WinSta0\\default". Now this works absolutely fine on windows 2000, NT but not on XP. The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load
by Guest David Ocampo- 0 replies

Can anyone help with the following system error reported in Event Viewer? I am running Windows XP SP2. Windows is not properly loading cdr4_xp.sys which I believe is making my system unstable -- I sometimes get an unexpected Windows stop error, otherwise known as a "blue screen system crash." Even though Windows reports the driver is not loaded, Windows is still able to recognize the CD-ROM device. I already checked to make sure the system file is located in the path "C:\windows\system32\drivers" and it is there and the file is fine (not corrupt and no hidden virus). Microsoft does not have any knowledge base articles about this problem but it is well …

Download Panel has Disappeared
by Guest rkraneis@techspectrum.com- 3 replies

A highly skilled user from my user community has reported that the download panel no longer appears when downloading or trying to download a file from the Internet. I've searched Google, Yahoo, MSN and can't find any method for reactivating the download panel. I don't know whether it's an Internet Explorer, Windows Registry, or some other feature or control. Does anyone have an answer or advice? Thanks. Richard from Chicago, IL USA

transfer whole OS to another HD
by Guest Lenny- 5 replies
Hi, I have a computer with XP installed that is beginning to have a few problems. Nothing major and nothing wrong with the operating system but I believe the HD is about to pack up. I would like to install a second HD on the system and then just copy everything straight from one to the other, take the faulty HD out and carry on as usual. Is there an easy way of doing this? Do I need some software like Ghost? Can the second HD also be C:? Thanks Lenny

Administrator doesn't show up under user account under my user defined account with administrator rights. Do I need to know the default password? What is that? Thanks, Chas

OT Yahoo messenger translates on the fly
by Guest Terry- 0 replies

I know this has nothing to do with Windoze, but I really don't know where to post this. There are two places I frequent that sure could use translate software. One is IJJI.com which is a free online chess game site, and WinMx which is a P2P program. Both have chat features and both attract people from around the world. I can only imagine that as the Internet grows so will the need for a translate one the fly program. I was thinking that Yahoo Messenger or MSN would be a hit for something like this. Thoughts?

by Guest Rich- 15 replies

My Toshiba Sattelite A85 laptop with Windows XP Sp2 Home Edition 'out of the blue' started to have problems with booting Windows. Initially, I was getting the following error: windows\system\vgaoem.fom file is corrupt or missing ... or something close, and the system would just hang. Sometims with another attempt to reboot the error would point to a different missing file, but Windows would still not load. Since my laptop did not come with the full Windows CD but only with the System Restore, I attempted to get by the problem by loading Windows XP Home Edition from a CD that came from Dell with my other desktop pc (at this point I still was able to…
