CD-R Showing as blank... my course work is on there
by Guest andrea.currie@gmail.com- 2 replies

Good Evening I have a CD-R, I burnt data on to it just over a year ago. It has worked in the past. I have tried the disk on two computers with different operating systems. Both recognise the disk is in the drive BUT it shows as completely blank. It contains my coursework and notes which I now need to access. I tried a free disk recovery program and it sees that the disk is blank. Any help would be extremely helpful...Although I dont hold out much hope that the disk will work

Taskbar buttons
by Guest OKville- 2 replies

Hi. I like to keep a Word file and an Excel file open at all times. I also tend to have a bunch of other things open at the same time. Is there a way to not show the Word and Excel files as a taskbar button to save some room? I already know they are open and sit in plain sight, I really don't need them in the taskbar. Thanks for any help. Hope this explanation made sense.

Hi Gang, Can someone help me? I have Microsoft Student with Encarta 2008. When I install it I cannot see the licence agreement but I continue with the installation because I always agree with Microsoft licences. The program installs to near the end, when the programs brings a pop up that says that I do not have sufficent permission for installation of the fonts. Then a similar pop up that says that says it cannot register the type libraries. Is there something that I can do or should I give up? Thanks for anybodys help! jsc248.

monitor resolution question
by Guest airpix- 2 replies
My Dell Precision 690 with windows XP running a Dell 2407WFP monitor won't allow me any lower resolution than 1680x1050. If I try to go lower the images, icons, everything become distorted, an actual 8x12" image becomes 6x12 in Photoshop or any other program (when actually measured with a ruler) The proportion is corret when set for 1680x1050 but the type is so small in other programs that I can't read it. Any suggestions as to how to get the cerrect proportion when setting a lower screen resolution? Thanks, Airpix

Question about sharing files on a network. Can users write over each other?
by Guest jmDesktop- 2 replies

All the users have XP and Office. What keeps them from having the same document open and writing over each other? If the first one opens it does that make other uses read only in XP? Sorry, didn't know where to post this. Thank you for any help.

Integration
by Guest sjb- 1 reply

My original OS was XP Pro SP1a so is the installation CD. The OS of mine has become via automatic upgrades SP2. As it turned out to be the computer's OS was missing i386 folder and its files required for the Fax service's installation. To get the upgraded i386, I largely integrated my OS's installation folder with Win. XP SP2, see MS article # 900871 that refers to XP home, XP pro, XP pro SP 1a. But I have not run the "in-place" upgrade yet. Should, or should I not run this upgrade? Thanks for any advice. sjb
