Help with font size
by Guest Joan- 2 replies

Can someone please tell me if there is a way to increase font size for reading web pages besides the options in 'View - Text size' and using the Windows Magnifier? I have poor vision but can read text if larger than the largest in the View - text size. Most web pages are too small even with the 'largest setting'. The magnifier is sort of difficult for me to use, it tends to wander. Is there any software or way to increase text size that I am not aware of? Thanks, Joan

Convert millions of jpegs to mpeg
by Guest DeanB- 8 replies

I am backing up images (1 per second) from a security camera, to a directory on a PC. However, after a couple of days I am having a hard time accessing such large numbers of files - its not the amount of data its the number of files that is the problem. Anyway, I'm looking for some software (not necessarily free) that can handle such large file counts and convert them into something like an AVI or MPEG, or at least let me scan through them easily. Any recommendations appreciated. Dean

I keep getting a BSOD on startup and cannot read the message before the system restarts. My F8 advanced options menu does not include " Disable Automatic Restart", and I can not load "Safe Mode" , or "Safe Mode With Conmmand Prompt" or Normal startup. Is there another way to disable automatic restart? or is there another way to find the error code?

After an Internet download is complete a window pops up with "open", "open folder" and "save" options. If the download destination was the document folder or any other folder besides the desktop and the "open folder" option is selected the folder is opened and you can start to work. If the folder is the desktop folder then a message pops up telling you that the folder is the file is on desktop instead of opening the folder so you can view the contents of the desktop as a detail or thumbnail screen instead of as desktop icons. Just another example of Microsoft demanding that users do things Microsoft's way instead of doing things in the way things need to b…

Temporary Internet Files & Cookies do not appear in respective folders. I perform clean up's regularly and when going to folders for cookies and temp internet files there's nothing there. Where are they? Which folders? Even when applying "show hidden files & folders" and unchecking box "do not hide protected operating system files" there are no cookies or temporary internet files. Can someone please tell me where they are? Thank you in anticipation. -- nic vee

Blue Screen
by Guest DaveWT- 8 replies

When I insert a blank disc in my DVD burner, my system crashes and I get an error message "STOP: 0x0000008E (0xc0000005, 0x806EE753, [see below], 0x00000000)" The only change to the message is to the third set of numbers within the brackets which reads, variously, 0xB928A4cc or 0xB9044D7C or 0xB9B464CC. This used to be an intermittent fault but now it occurs all the time. I'm using Windows XP with SP2. Is there anything I can do to fix this or do I need to call in the experts? Any help appreciated. Security Update for Windows XP KB931784
by Guest Retired Navy- 3 replies

Ahoy, Wonder if you can help me out with this one. Running Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2, with all the updates using the Express button at Windows Update site, "Except" one of them, and that's the problem. Security Update for Windows XP (KB931784) downloads and installs successfully, but the next time I go to Windows Update, it is offered to me again. It doesn't have to download, says it allready is, then installs successfully again. It says in Details at WinUp that it gets added to Add/Remove, but it's not in my Add/Remove Programs window. No other known probs on this machine, just this Security Update being offered every trip to WinUp.…
