Accidentally removed aquarium skin from Media Player.
by Guest ShyAnne Gull- 1 reply

I can't see a question in the list that I have posted twice - a few days apart. I am trying to determine how to get back an aquarium skin that I deleted by accident (wasn't aware that by clicking on the RED X it would remove it completely from the program). Thanks so much. -- Shyanne

Very slow file delete in Windows XP Pro
by Guest Hoopster- 10 replies
Deleting even a small file takes several minutes. The recycle bin is empty. This is not a right-click context handler issue. Deletes are slow regardless of the method by which file(s) or folder(s) are deleted. Windows Explorer seems to lock up and even attempting to kill it with Task Manager takes a long time. Eventually, if I let it sit long enough, the file(s) get deleted. This problem only appears on one user login (mine with admin rights). File deletes with other user logins (also admins) are fast. Any ideas how to pinpoint this problem?

"A Network Cable is Unplugged" error
by Guest Tim Zych- 7 replies

I am seeing this baloon popup intermittently to very often, seemingly randomly, on a WinXP machine. "A Network Cable is Unplugged", and then I lose internet. Sometimes I lose connectivity for a long time, sometimes I get it back quickly. I have performed the suggestions at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;811595 to disallow the computer to turn off the device to save power. However, my laptop works perfectly, loses no internet connectivity at any time during this process. I am using cable internet with a Linksys router and I have swapped around and replaced the cables, to the same effect. I unplugged the LAN cable from the la…

DSL drops into dial-up mode
by Guest BudV- 2 replies

I'm running WinXp Home Sp2 on a Dell I2500. On a regular basis, in the middle of some operation (in the latest case it was a Symantec fix for appsvc32.exe problems) my system will drop out of DSL mode and pop-up a dial-up window. I'm sure it's some parameter I've set wrong, but I don't know what it is. Any ideas?

weird subtle bug in xp pro
by Guest sobriquet- 1 reply

Hello. Since a while there is a subtle issue that has been bothering me. I'm sure I didn't have this problem before, so something must have been installed on my system that is causing this problem. When I'm working in any particular windows application, occasionally, windows will spontaneously switch to a different application, which is very annoying. For instance, I might be editing an email or a posting and suddenly, for no apparent reason, it switches from Internet Explorer to winamp or another program and I inadvertently press keys that activate functions in winamp, thinking I'm still working in Internet Explorer. It happens regardless of the application I'…

flash drive problem
by Guest gobis- 1 reply

Hello everyone, I have a 4GB Sandisk flash drive that I used to store and transfer large documents that I downloaded from my office computer to home computer (the office computer does not have a DVD burner) The office computer now takes a looong time to `feel` the presence of the flash drive (that did not happen in the first few weeks when I used the flash drive on thatcomputer). Extremely slow data transfers invariably end with I/O error messages. That office computer does have USB 2.0 support and has no problems with other USB drives; my flash drive has no problems with other computers, either. They just don't like each other, for some reason. The onl…
