Windows Explorer Acting Up
by Guest marine247- 5 replies

Recently, I've been trying to access folders that contain pictures taken with my camera. Ok, folders that only hold pictures, open fine. The files open and the folder opens. But, when I try to access a folder that contains not only my pictures but also my video clips, I get the following error everytime: ""Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost. For more information about this error, click here."" Now, this is getting really annoying because, I can theoretically say that the pictures in these folders…

When logging on to the internet, sometimes a message will come up "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience" The same message will come up some times after I'm on the internet and it will close. This problem is intermittent. I down loaded and installed Internet Explorer 7 and it stll does it. Also, I down loaded and installed windows updates from Microsoft. My computer would not install Service Pack 3 (if that matters) I need help. Wife and kids are going to run me off.

I recently updated my wifes computer and installed IE 7.0 thinking she might like the simpler layout better. Well she hated it just like me. I uninstalled it per the instructions and had problems aftward. Every time I opened an IE brower or Outlook Express it would take forever. I tried re-installing IE 6.0 after removing it and it wouldn't install saying there was a newer version. Her e-mail was also not spell checking which I saw was the same download as IE 6.0. I did a system restore going back to before the updates and re-downloading all but IE 7. Now every time I open any Microsoft program ie: any Office 2007 program, Outlook Express or Interne…

by Guest vin- 4 replies

Good day. Is there a way to hide the 'users tab' on Task Manager? A registry tweak or some sort perhaps? I found an article describing a method to disable the task manager completely via group policy or some sort but I still need to use the task manager for monitoring purposes. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Had errors, but no more but weird files
by Guest Mark G.- 3 replies

One of my drives was indicating disk errors and wanted to do a check disk in xp pro. The drive itself is NTFS and is about 250gigi SATA HDD. Anyhow, I let it do the check error upon reboot of my machine and it seems I no longer have that issue, but now, on that hard drive is a folder called "found.000". Inside it is various files such as .mp3's which are similar if not the same as files already on my machine. Are these duplicate files or bad files? The disk health of this drive indicates the disk is fine, but I want to double check. Are there any good freeware programs out there that confirm the status or health of this disk? So what could have caused this…

Delayed Write failed
by Guest seanmig- 5 replies

Hi, A few of our users are getting "Delayed Write Failed -Windows was unable to save all the data for the file... The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere" when trying to save an Excel file in a network share. These users are running Windows XP SP2 and the share is on a Windows 2003. I've already checked article 321733 and tried applying the hotfix but couldn't even install it since we are already using XP SP2. Has anyone encounter something like this before and fixed it? Thanks and regards, Seanmig

How can I open a .swf file in Windows?? This is a XP Home SP2 system. If I'm using IE7, it will open but if I use Explorer to try to open it, I get the window that says Windows can't open it and wants me to either go to the WEB to find something or search my PC. I do have Macromedia Flash installed (the latest version) but that's not listed in any options. Ed
