I am trying to make a password reset disk. My PC does not have a floppy drive, so the attempt to generate a disk fails because it is looking for an A-drive floppy. Is there any way to generate a password reset CD? Thank you.

I cant seen to find an answer anywhere.. and I am seriously thiking about formating! A system restore I tried didnt help.. but Im not sure if I went back enough any ideas?

Cant connect to mapped drive (and other problems)
by Guest jasonconstance@gmail.com- 1 reply

I'm working on a client's computer which is a Windows XP machine. The PC is on a domain with a Windows 2003 Server, which hosts several folders for this user to access. On the windows xp machine, however, the two mapped folders are not showing the entire contents of those folders when you browse to it through My Computer, etc. When you look at the shared folder on the server, all of the files are showing up. I tried to disconnect and re-map the drives, but I was given a login/ password prompt. I cant get this prompt to accept my login/password, or even the admin password on the server. Please help. Anyone have any suggestions?

Another System Has No Paging File or the Paging File Too Small Err
by Guest stgislander- 14 replies
I just completed a fresh installation of WinXP and I immediately began getting the "System Has No Paging File or the Paging File Is Too Small" error. Before asking my question I thought I'd review the other posts to see if I could fix the problem. My project requires only the OS and my control application so a small (4GB) removable microdrive was selected. The drive has only one partition. Both files C:\pagefile.sys and C:\windows\system32\temppf.sys were located on the drive. I followed the suggestions in KB Article 315270 and ensured that all users (Administrator and one other) has Full Control permissions. I also followed some suggestions from P…

ii386 folder issue
by Guest SJB- 1 reply

Hello, During the attempted Setup for Fax Service in XP pro SP2 the i386 folder that was prompted for, is missing. I don't have the separate XP pro SP2 CD either that could provide the required files. Neither my XP pro SP2 installation disk has those files, which was suggested to use. However, I'd have access to XP SP2 Home i386 folder and it's files in it. At where earlier the Fax Service setup was a success. Should/could I use these files for installing the Fax Service in XP pro SP2 OS? Thanks sjb

Windows XP Home won't boot
by Guest jrsjs- 4 replies
Hello, My computer has been running fine except that occasionally booting up has been slow. Now suddenly, it is refusing to boot unless I either go into safe mode and use System Restore or I try using settings which last worked. The next time it may boot fine BUT the next time after that, it will likely not boot again unless I try System Restore etc. It is very frustrating. I have done nothing to the computer that I can think of in terms of new software or deletions or anything which might have caused this. One moment it was fine and then the problems appreared. Any help would be much appreciated. John

Yamaha DGX-220 Keyboard
by Guest John- 5 replies

Hi, I have a new Yamaha DGX-220 Keyboard, and I just found out I can actually record the notes played on it. The drivers are installed and all that, but I don't have the right software to record chords, drum beats or any effects created by the keyboard (e.g dual, harmony, split). Is there any software that can record these? PS... I tried Anvil Studio, simple and easy to use interface, but, I'd rather set the controls from the DGX 220 Keyboard. Thanks in advance. --

Can't start Windows XP
by Guest Chico- 2 replies

I want to do a clean install of XP. I've set my boot order in BIOS so that my CD drive is ahead of my hard drive. However, when I restart my computer with the XP install disk in the CD drive, all I get is a black screen with nothing but a small grey bar in the top left hand corner that blinks for maybe 30 seconds, then the computer proceeds to load XP. Please help.

non-diskette backups
by Guest David- 8 replies
I just spent a few days re-installing the OS, drivers, apps, etc on my kid's laptop. I really don't want to have to do it again so I'd like to completely backup the install using XP's native backup utility. It seems, however, that I need a floppy drive to create a boot disk!?!? How crazy is that in this day and age where many systems (most laptops) are sold without floppy drives. Is there a way to use the XP backup utility without the floppy? Why can't I create a CD boot disk? What other (very) low cost alternatives are there? TIA, David

Product Key

I have a valid product key for an emachine I bought. I am re-loading Windows XP on this machine but the product key will not work. (Yes I triple checked and had someone else verify that I did it correctly) Are the product keys generic enough to work on any load of Windows XP? How do I fix this problem?

Cutting and pasting multiple lines in Excel
by Guest Martin Ellis- 5 replies

Apologies if this is in the wrong area. I've downloaded some .csv files which contain speed camera details for my Garmin Zumo. There are separate files for Average, Mobile and Gatso cameras, among others. The Gatso file (for example) lists all know Gatsos, and identifies them with the speed in the last cell on each line (i.e 30 - 40 - 50) but the lines are not all in groups of each speed, there may be three 30s, then two 40s, then six more 30s etc. I want to be able to select all of the lines for one speed and save them into another new file, thus ending up with a 30 file, a 40 file, a 50 file... etc. Excel (2003 XP) baulks at letting me select mulitp…
