Hi I have a situation where a user consolidated his drives by fully restoring a drive (using Microsoft Backup) into a folder on another drive. Problem is he restored the Recycler and system volume information folders as well, and now he's cleaned up this folder and wants to delete it, he can't because he has these 2 folders. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Malware

Has anyone been unfortunate enough to be cursed by something called WinSpy, a " monitoring tool" in other words something dubious to start with then being used by some really low-down rotten cretins. Does anyone know anything about this stuff, or how to get rid of it, or how to stop from getting it?? It apparently slid right in under Microsoft OneCare Live, who discovered it after it installed, can block it, but can't quarantine it so I can delete it. I can't find anything to see it, where it is, etc. Thanks for any help I can get manzie

Cannot Log on due to windows validation message
by Guest Kristen- 0 replies

I'm new to this forum thing, but hope to find some much needed help. I bought a used computer for work and went on microsoft.com to make sure that the Windows XP Pro already installed on the computer was a valid version because my employer said a bootleg copy wouldn't work with their system. I used the validation tool on microsoft's website and it said it was valid. Here's the problem: I would get a message asking if I wanted to validate windows because it would need to be validated within 6 days (paraphrasing). I clicked yes and it said "windows has already been validated". "Click OK to close". I would click OK and my comp would work just fine. …

Time is different when not on Domain
by Guest Jordan- 0 replies

Whenever I start the laptop on the Domain at work my time is correctly syncronized with the network but whenever I start the laptop off the Domain, the laptop is exactly one hour (sometimes exactly two hours ???) ahead of the correct time. Time zone is setup correctly (EST) and the DST is enabled as it should be for New England. The only thing I notice that is strange is that when off the Domain and I go to the date and time settings and sync to time.windows.com or the second choice I get an error. If I use a third party utility (don't want to), the sync works and shows the right time.

by Guest st- 1 reply

I am connected to a shared printer and every once in a while it will not print and it will say access is denied. If i delete the printer then browse to the other computer and type in my password to connect to the computer then double click on the shared printer it will install and work again for a while then i will have to do the same thing. When i typed in the password i check to remember the password figuring that would fix it, but no luck. I added myself to both computer local admin group and that did not work. I am not forsure what else to try

buy OEM version - I thought limited to mfr model ?
by Guest - Bobb -- 5 replies

I saw reference to this in another newgroup: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?Sort=3&Nav=|c:672|&Recs=30 If OEM version, how would a buyer know WHICH OEM hardware it goes with ??? ( Aren't they usuall for certain model hardware - like Dell Dimension 2100 ) It seems to be a full version of XP SP2. I thought an OEM version was restricted to a particular model. So would a " Full OEM version" work on ANY model PC ? I never knew an OEM CD to install on " any hardware". So the only difference between this and non-OEM version is that this will erase/format HDD prior to install ? ( see note there) " Note: This version of…
