Before I publish my webs, I always do a search to find all .web file extensions and delete the web caches. Lately, when I do this search Windows doesn't find any files with the *.web command. However, if I start with Documents and Settings and walk through the whole path, there they are. My criteria this morning was *.web Look in: Local Disk (C:) All Files and folders Search subfolders (I do not have any hidden folders set this morning) What setting is missing in my searches that prevents the search to be complete? DSL connection and multiple accounts
by Guest Richard Fangnail- 3 replies

My friend has DSL but has to connect to it each time she starts up. Also, she has multiple accounts, so when she switches accounts, she has to reconnect (She uses Start>Connect To). My computer automatically connects to DSL (apparently my DSL modem may be a bridge router or something although it is usually just called a DSL modem). I've never used multiple accounts, but if I did, and I switched between accounts, would it automatically reconnect? This was partly answered in the thread below, but I am new at this: http://groups.google.com/group/comp.dcom.xdsl/browse_thread/thread/c29101b435a589e6/8bcee8aa90cfa242?lnk=st&q=fangnail%2C+pppoe&rnum=1#8bc…

KB Hotfix by email.
by Guest Matt Carter- 1 reply

I am on the phone with 800-MICROSOFT trying to get: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/920295/en-us KB hotfix. I am not sure if it would be possible to work via email with someone to get the information I need instead of being on the phone for about 10-15 minutes. Just a suggestions. I understand that I should NOT put this in a production environment and this is for one or two people who have problems. I am an I.T. professional and I know that it is a "hot" fix, not an official fix. I know for customer support and service, I would be happy to get that happening. If not that, then a live chat session.

Upgraded motherboard problem
by Guest kleefarr- 9 replies

Hi, I have recently upgraded my motherboard from a MSI 6511 to an MSI 865GM2. I also upgraded the CPU to a 2Ghz Celeron and new low density memory. I remembered that after upgrading a motherboard before, XP would not run due the change, so I was fully prepared to format and reinstall. The problem... When I put my XP disk in get the option to boot from CD, which I select, then it goes to the "inspecting setup" window. It hangs there for a while and then the system turns off and will not turn on again until it has been left for a few minutes. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Kevin

by Guest Tariq- 2 replies

Folks- I hope all is well. This is a question for Windows XP gurus. I am setting up desktop environment for my company, and I was wondering if it is possible to allow my end users (who are member of domain users group) to install company's approved software from some central distribution point by using their domain user account without giving them any administrative rights on their workstation? Is there any third party utility available? I am setting up a small environment, and I cannot afford to invest in SMS or other tools to deploy packages. I just want simple solution that will allow my users to install only company approved software without havin…

Automating Opening Of "Help and Support Center" Dialog?
by Guest (PeteCresswell)- 1 reply

Anybody know of a way to open this via a .BAT or .CMD file?... or, better yet, just a Windows shortcut? Right now, I've go the prospect of a total technophobe on the other end of the line and wanting them to send me an invitation to connect to their PC. Once the "Help and Support Center" dialog is open, I'm pretty sure I can get them to find/click on "Invite a friend..." and follow the prompts from there on. But I expect trouble getting them to press F1 on their desktop. "What is a Desktop" "How do I get there" ..... and so-forth. e.g. if they have MS Word open with the parent window maxed, I've got a problem. Better if I can put an icon so…

I have recently upgraded my hardware to a system with an Intel motherboard, Intel dual core processor 2.6, 500Gig HD, 4Gig RAM, ATI 1950 256MB PCIe video card. I am thinking of changing my ISP. I know if I change my email addr. I change the server name in OE. I assume the same goes for Newsgroups. But what I'd like to know is if I have Newsgroups already do I have to unsubscribe / resubscribe to them over again or will they carry over? TIA
