disc drive MP3 player not recognised
by Guest Ian- 3 replies

My PC is about 5 years old and my MP is not recognised in my computer. It works on my mother's newer PC. It shows up in device manager with a question mark and won't accept the drivers (it shouldn't need them anyway) I have an external hard drive and was wondering if that meant I had maxed out. The MP3 player is a USB device and my other devices are working fine through all the USB ports apart from this one. Hope you can help

Good Day!!! Kindly help me with my problem, we had a brown out in our place and during that time I'm using my computer w/ XP OS, I don't have UPS. Since then I can't boot to XP, it keeps on restarting, either I choose Safe, Last known good configuration or VGA mode. What might be the problem or how can I fix this without reinstalling the Windows XP Pro. Thanks in advance and God Bless.

Boot to USB 1 2

I copy my EIDE Western Digital 80 gig C:\ drive, to a same make & size EIDE drive installed in an external USB 2.0 enclosure Dynex model DX-HDEN10 using Norton Ghost 10.0 connected to my USB bus, making the copied drive active, bootable & with a copied MBR. I would like to disconnect my C:\ drive & from a cold boot, boot to the copied drive on the USB 2. bus, so that becomes the main drive. I thought this was doable by changing the BIOS boot 1st device to ARMD-HDD, but that didn't work. Is this doable, & if so what do I need to do to make it happen? Regards...Don

Windows XP hung at Setup is Starting Windows screen

I have a Dell Dimension E521 that came preloaded with Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit edition. I am trying to delete Windows Vista and install Windows XP Professional. I have installed Windows XP Pro on blank hard drives dozens of times and usually things go smoothly. When I boot from the Windows XP CD, Windows Setup copies various files from the CD to the hard drive. However, before it gets to the point where I can partition the hard drive and continue the installation, the computer hangs. Specifically, the computer hands at the "Windows Setup" screen where it says "Setup is Starting Windows". I am using a Dell XP Pro with SP2 CD. My Dimension E521 does have a…

Strange Dialogue box
by Guest Bogey Man- 4 replies
Occasionally, after doing routine maintenance on my wife's Acer 5000 laptop, there appears a dialogue box upon shutdown. This dialogue box doesn't have anything in the title line but in the body of the box there is a yellow triangle with the following text beside it. "Monitor Invalid License ID" There is no other text and the computer works properly with XP SP2. There doesn't appear to be a pattern to this except that it sometimes appears after the maintenance schedule that consists of doing scans with CA Internet Security Suite, and then a defrag. Any help would be appreciated. Ron

I have a Windows XP Pro sp2 desktop (desktop A) that logs into a domain network. This user does not have access to private folders on the server but is able to access them. I check on permission on the server and this user has no permissions at all. I login as this user on a different Windows XP desktop (desktop B) and that user is not able to connect to those private folders. I login as a different user on (desktop A) and could not access those private folders. I also ran virus scan and spy ware on the desktop and found nothing. Any type of help would be helpful.

ABIT kd7 SktA mobo / xp2000 / 768mb pc2100 (ddr266?) ...I think the fsb on the cpu is only 100mhz anyway, ... I've just installed XP Retail ...SP2 must have slipstreamed in with it, because the hardware tree in Device Manager looks lovely, i.e. no yellow blobs with exclamation points in them, in sight ! ...and a driver went in for a PCI SB 1371 sound card - and even an Nvidia driver for the AGP 8x? MX400 64mb card, and SB 1371 pci card, ...and a VIA compatible LAN driver :-) Is it best to leave things as they are, or pile in VIA's 4in1 chipset drivers v4.56 that were released on the 26/05/2005 !!! ....that's over two years ago ? I can see 5 Inte…
